Appropriate Assessment
Stage 1 Screening Assessments for a number of projects including: River Blackwater WWTP discharges (for Cork County Council in association with Ryan Hanley Ltd) (2011), proposed re-development of Duhallow Park Hotel (Blackwater River SAC) (private client, 2010 & 2012), the proposed re-development of Baltimore pier public toilet and ticket office in relation to Roaringwater Bay and Islands SAC (Cork County Council), two planning proposals on Hare Island (private clients) (2011); proposed development of house in West Cork (private client) adjacent to the Bandon River cSAC (2012).

Ecological Scoping and EcIA
input of ecological services to e.g. South Kerry Seven Villages Sewerage Scheme (Kerry County Council), Gorey Main Drainage Project (Wexford County Council), Macroom Sewerage Scheme (Cork County Council), proposed upgrade of wastewater treatment facilities at Midleton, Castlemartyr, Cloyne, Saleen & Ballycotton (Cork County Council).

e.g. annual benthic study of the River Fergus Estuary for the past seven years and on-going (private client);

Landfill Ecology (and potential impacts upon coastal impacts)

  • East Cork Landfill (2006 – 2012) (Cork County Council) - includes intertidal surveys of Cork Harbour, waterbird surveys of Rossmore Bay, Brick Island and North Channel (Cork Harbour), terrestrial habitat, bird and mammal surveys;
  • Tramore Landfill site (2004, 2005, 2007, 2008) (Waterford County Council) - included intertidal surveys of Tramore inner Backstrand, waterbird surveys of the Backstrand and bird surveys within the landfill, terrestrial habitat, bird and mammal surveys;
  • Dungarvan Landfill site (2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008) (Waterford County Council) – included waterbird surveys of the River Colligan estuary (Dungarvan Harbour) and freshwater/intertidal surveys of the River Colligan estuary plus terrestrial habitat, bird and mammal surveys.

Biodiversity Action Plans
our principal ecologist was contracted by the Heritage Council to draft Biodiversity Action Plans for Cork County Council and Cork City Council (both now published).  In 2010 Limosa Environmental produced a local Biodiversity Action Plan for Coolagown Development Group (Co Cork) which included the identification of measures to enhance local biodiversity.
